If you know me, you know that I’ve never really been into makeup. I rarely ever wear it, and “getting ready” usually means swiping on some mascara and brow gel. Thankfully, I have pretty clear skin, and so I kind of just let my skincare routine slip and never really put much thought into trying new products. But for some reason, over the past month or so, I’ve started to get more into makeup and taking better care of my skin. I think it’s because since I’m back at home, I’ve been working at a boutique almost every day. It’s fun to have something to dress up and get ready for, and I’ve started to develop a makeup routine (even if it’s very minimal haha). Today I wanted to share some of the products I’ve been using recently, plus some that are on my list to try in the future.
I’m not really into super heavy makeup or using a lot of different products, and I honestly wouldn’t even know how to use them if I had them. Every morning and night I wash my face with the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. I got it a few years ago and it’s lasted me a long time, I still have over half of the bottle left. It only takes a pump or two, then I massage it into my face with warm water to rinse it off. I like how it’s super gentle on my skin but leaves my face feeling refreshed.
After washing my face, I’ll do some light coverage on my face with the Drunk Elephant Bronzing Drops. I got these for my birthday and really like them! You basically mix a drop or two (depending on your skin tone) into your moisturizer and apply an even layer on your face. I use the Glossier Priming Moisturizer and mix it together on the back of my hand, then spread it on my face with a beauty blender. I love how the bronzing drops are light coverage, but give my face a nice glow and make me a little tanner!
Then I’ll focus on my eyelashes, and I don’t really have a set product I use. I’ve tried the Maybelline Great Lash mascara, which I really like, but for Christmas I got the Revlon Volumazing mascara and LOVE it. It’s one of the best mascaras I’ve ever used, and it lasts for so long. I used it yesterday and even at 9 p.m. it still looked like I had eyelash extensions on- that’s how good it is. One thing I use almost every day, even if I don’t use any other makeup, is brow gel. I have really bushy, think brows and they’re always all over the place. My favorite products I’ve tried so far at the ELF clear brow gel and the Benefit 24 Hour Brow Setter. Lastly, I’ll swipe on some Glossier Balm Dot Com or tinted chapstick for a little lip color. I really like the NIVEA chapstick, and the cherry one adds the perfect amount of pink tint!
And that’s it! Super simple, but it adds some color to my face and leaves me feeling refreshed. Now that I’ve gotten a little more into makeup/skincare products, I’ve started finding some new products that I want to try. I know Glossier has a lot of new makeup products that I’ve never tried, and I also want to try more products from Drunk Elephant or Supergoop! I’ve linked some of my favorites down below.
