Happy Thursday! Today was my last day of classes before spring break, and I’m heading to the airport tomorrow for my trip to Spain! I’m studying abroad for a week in Seville, and I’m nervous and excited all in one. I never usually go on any big trip over spring break, so I think it’s going to be really fun for my senior year. Today’s post is a big roundup of all my recent favorites from the past few months. Some of these are Christmas gifts, Amazon finds, random food favorites, and more! I always love reading what other people are loving recently, so this was so fun to write.
FOOD // This is a very random group of foods, but I feel like I’ve had a few “food fixations” and just eaten the same few things on repeat the past few weeks! When I have time to go home between classes for lunch, I love making this blueberry banana smoothie, it’s so refreshing and quick! I also have been obsessed with avocado toast on sourdough, I think I’ve had it every day for the past few weeks. I love putting goat cheese and a drizzle of honey on top! I’ve also been making yogurt bowls a lot for a lunch to pack and take to campus on busy days. My favorite yogurt is the Forager vanilla yogurt, but I also love the Chobani plain greek yogurt. Add a drizzle of vanilla almond Rx butter on top- so good!
DRINKS // I gave up coffee for Lent, but before giving it up, I was drinking lots of cold brew with oat milk. It’s a combination I tried for the first time last summer and loved ever since! My favorite products were La Colombe cold brew with Chobani oat milk and a splash of Chobani vanilla creamer. Since cutting it out, I’ve been trying to drink more tea, and my favorite is peppermint tea. It’s nice to sip on while reading or journaling at night! As usual, I still love kombucha. My favorite flavors are probably pineapple and citrus!
BOOKS // Last week, I finished Celebration of Disciplines, by Richard Foster. It was so good, one of my favorite books of the year so far. Foster discusses each spiritual discipline in a way that truly makes you want to draw near to the heart of God and allow him to penetrate every part of your life. Two audiobooks I really enjoyed were Book Lovers by Emily Henry and Daisy Jones and the Six. Book Lovers was so cute, I loved the small town vibes and the sister relationships. Daisy Jones was excellent on audiobook because each character had its own voice actor. It felt like I was listening to a movie! I finally read If We Were Villains, which has been on my list forever. I loved the dark academia vibes and the mystery underlying the story. Lastly, I finally started the Court of Thorns and Roses series. I’ve been wary about reading it forever, but I read the first two books in the series. The first book was okay, but the second, A Court of Mist and Fury, was surprisingly really good.
SHOWS // I haven’t been watching many shows recently, especially now that school has gotten busier. At the end of winter break, my dad and sister and I started watching Suits, a lawyer show set in New York. I watched the first two seasons, and really liked it, but haven’t watched much in the past few months. I also started rewatching One Tree Hill over break (and of course haven’t watched since). I have a bad habit of being hooked on a show for two weeks and then forgetting about it and not watching it again. My recent watch was season 3 of Outer Banks. It wasn’t as good as the first two, but I really love the show and the characters. Now I’m rewatching season one, and will probably watch season two after I finish!
YOUTUBE CHANNELS // One of my recent favorite youtube channels is Julia and Hunter, a married couple living in Nashville. They do long weekly vlogs and take the camera along on their day, and I love how real and down to earth they are! They are having a baby in May, and it’s fun to watch them prepare to be first-time parents. I also love Haley Pham’s book videos. She does reading roundups, recommendations, and reading vlogs. She’s so fun to watch and I always leave with new books to read! Lastly, I’ve been trying to add more weights to my fitness routine and really enjoy Fit by Mik workouts. She has so many different videos and I always feel so good after I’m done.
APPS // Three apps I’m loving right now: Libby, Strava, and Notion. I usually listen to audiobooks on drives or while walking to class. Libby lets you connect your library card to the app and check out audiobooks for free! I’m currently trying to switch up my workout routine to build my endurance for running, and Strava is kind of like social media for running. You can post your runs, join challenges, and cheer on friends. My favorite app of the year has been Notion. I tried to use it last year but was making it too complicated for myself. The new template I have is a lot more simplistic and easy to navigate. I use it to plan out my week and schedule for each day, grocery list, book tracker, and more!
CLOTHES // I’m loving that it’s starting to warm up again, because that means shorts and warmer weather clothes again! My favorite shorts are the Lululemon tracker shorts. I have a few different colors and they are such good quality. I now have three colors of the Old Navy henleys, they are so comfy! I got this puffer vest for Christmas and it’s so cute over the henley or a sweatshirt if it’s cold. I’ve had these socks since the summer and I wear them almost every day, I love the look with sneakers. Speaking of sneakers, I found these Adidas Forum Lows in the big kids size on Amazon for cheaper, and they’ve been my new go-to pair. I also found these dupes for the Boston Birks on Amazon, and they’re so comfy! I’m trying to decide if I want to splurge on the real thing.
PRODUCTS // I don’t really switch up my earring stack very often, so a few months ago I decided it was time for some new ones. I got these bubble earrings and I love how cute they are, plus they pair easily with other earrings. I also got the NYX brow glue and it holds my brows in place all day. I’ve been reading a lot recently, and while I prefer a physical book, I’ve been reading a lot on my Kindle recently if I can’t find the book from the library. I love how compact it is, and there’s no blue light while reading at night. Whenever I have a lot of homework to do and need to be in focus mode, I love my Beats headphones. I got them years ago but they’re great! I needed a new hair straightener, and found this Revlon one from Amazon for cheap. It works so well and straightens my hair so fast. Lastly, I got this Lands End tote a few months ago, and it holds so much. I love how you can personalize it!
SONGS // After the Super Bowl, I was on a big Rihanna kick for a few days, her songs are so fun. Two of my favorite Christian songs at the moment are In Christ Alone and Jireh (especially the live version!) Lastly, I love Something in the Orange by Zach Bryan, I listen to it all the time!
ACTIVITY // What have I been up to? Besides school, I’ve been reading a lot, having movie nights with friends, trying to cook more, and playing cards! I love picking a show to watch with a friend. I’m bad about watching shows by myself and usually don’t make time for it, so it’s fun to do it with someone else. I’ve also been trying to run more and build up my mileage. I’m doing a half marathon training plan that incorporates speedwork, full body workouts, and long runs on the weekend. I like how there’s a variety of workouts, and it’s fun to challenge myself. Lastly, I played pickleball for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was so fun! I definitely want to play more now that it’s warming up.
